1. WebQuest about plants.

The first activity we are going to do is visit a Webquest. WebQuests are activites, using Internet resources, which encourage students to use higher order thinkings skills to solve activities.
This WebQuest, as I mentioned, consists in some activities that you have to do, in order, related to the unit of Plants. 
In the final task (activity 7 of the WebQuest) you have to publish your concept map as a comment in this entry. To start just click in the link.

2. Video about photosynthesis

The second activity that you have to do is watch a video. Click in the video or in the URL and watch the video about the photosynthesis. 
As you already know photosynthesis is, in other words, how plants makes their food.

When you finished watching the video, answer these questions in your notebook: 

1. What do you call sugar that is produced in the process of photosynthesis?

2. What gas does human release that plants use?

3. Which cells are involved in the photosynthesis? What can we find inside these cells?

4. Complete the sentence: Carbon_______________ + Water + _______________ = ___________ for plants + Oxygen for others.

5. Write the name of plants which don't need to do the photosynthesis.

3. RSS: subscribe to a interesting site.


In this page Easy Science for Kids you can find a lot of interesting news a curiosities about plants, animals, human body, etc. 

In this case, we are interested in plants, so a good way to see all the entries about this topic is subscribing to it. 
For that, a good way is through a RSS, with that, we can receive all the news about the topic we want. You have to click in this orange icon.

You just have to make click in "subscribe now" and you will receive all the news related to plants in this web.  

When you are subscribe, in group of three or four that we will establish in class,  find the most interesting new for you, make a poster and explain it for the rest of the class.

4. Social Networks: Instagram

The next step in this workshop is through the Social Networks. Social Networks plays an essential role in our lives, and especially in young people's live. 
Most of the people are spending at least an hour in these popular social media sites.
There are many popular social networks such as Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, and the largest one Facebook.
Among other things, social networks helps the youth and any other user updated with what is happening around the world, help us stay connected and interact with other people, even if they are many miles apart. 

Cause we know the benefits that social networks have, now we are going to do another activity with Instagram. 
In this activity each student has to upload a photo related to the unit: The Plant Kingdom, and explain in the description something that you learn in this unit, for example parts of the plants or the photosynthesis. 

To be able to upload a photo, you have to enter in the account: bilingualismcanbefun with the password: orange

5. Podcast about desert plants

The fifth step in this workshop is listening a podcast. A podcast is a form of digital media that consists of an episodic series of audio, video, digital radio, etc subscribed to and downloaded automatically through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile.

Here we have an interesting podcast about the desert plants that we can find in the desert of Utah in the United States of America. 
You have to listen this podcast and write as a comment in this entry a short summary about what the speakers talk.

6. Colaborative Work

Congratulation! We are in the final step of this workshop! 

For the final task, you have to use an application that Gmail offers. This application is called Google Drive, and it allows creating a document where our group of class can write in it at the same time.

So, it is very useful if we have to do a project with a group of people and share ideas with them, each people from their houses. That is what you need to do, with the group of people that we established in class the last day you need to do some activities. Each group may to do 3 or 4 activities. I created an account in Google Drive for the class, you have just entered in this account and you will find the document you have to complete. 
When you and your group finish, just click in "Save".
